What the tool does
Brine Bench calculates plain-salt ingredient amounts, reverses known masses into percentages, and scales batches. It makes the denominator explicit so readers can distinguish water-based, solution-based and food-plus-water recipes.
The calculator runs in your browser. It uses the same published formulas across all of its pages. Worked examples are included so you can check a result without trusting an unexplained number.
Who is responsible
Brine Bench is an independent project maintained by its site owner. Questions, corrections and suggestions can be sent to turbin28@gmail.com.
We do not claim that the site is operated by a university or a food-processing authority. Links to institutional publications identify supporting references; they do not imply endorsement.
Scope and corrections
The site does not prescribe safe curing time, storage, smoking conditions or nitrite dosage. The examples demonstrate arithmetic rather than tested food-specific processes.
If you find a calculation issue, please include the calculation basis, units, entered values and expected result. The Contact page provides a checklist. See Methodology for assumptions and sources.
